Dortech Doors – Secure By Design
What is secure by design?
Secured by Design has been developed by the Association of Chief Police Officers Crime Prevention Initiatives (ACPO CPI Ltd) and is the group name for a number of national Police projects focused on the design and security for new and refurbished homes, commercial premises and car parks, as well as the acknowledgement of quality security products and crime prevention projects. The principles of the scheme have been proven to reduce the risk of crime and the fear of crime.
The standards listed below are for complete doorsets
- PAS 24: 2016: Enhanced security performance requirements for doorsets and windows in the UK. Doorsets and windows intended to offer a level of security suitable for dwellings and other buildings exposed to comparable risk
- STS 201 Issue 12: 2020: Enhanced security to satisfy the requirements for certification of doorsets, tested in accordance with PAS24 & BS637
PAS24: 2016
Dortech Doors are PAS24 accredited through BM Trada’s Q-Mark scheme. We are also accredited with the Police Security initiative, Secure by Design. In cases where Secure by Design (SBD) accreditation is a clearly specified requirement on a project, it is no longer acceptable for fabricators to piggy back on the back of the systems manufacturers testing and it is imperative that the testing and certification is held by the manufacturer.
In order for a project to reach the Secure by Design standard, all parties (Systems Company and glazing fabricator/installer) must have a recognised Secure by Design accreditation, such as Q-Mark. This can be attained through controlled testing of window and door systems, in addition to assessments of a company’s quality control and production processes.
